Frequently Asked Questions

  • Guarding Minds at Work is a free online 15-20-minute employee survey that assesses workplace psychological health and safety and is grounded in the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. Guarding Minds can help districts identify where they are, identify areas for improvement, and provide an ongoing measurable way to assess the state of workplace wellbeing. A 2023 update to the survey provides additional data on stress, trauma and inclusion.

    Guarding Minds compiles reports providing detailed feedback; however, the length of data for all employee groups (hundreds of pages) presents an analytical challenge.

  • Well at Work advisors have direct experience supporting over a dozen school districts across Canada to move from data into actionable workplace wellbeing strategies. We have worked with school districts across Canada, helping them to use Guarding Minds thoughtfully and wisely.

    Our proprietary tool summarizes Guarding Minds at Work survey results across employee groups, pulling from comprehensive data to identify overall areas of strength or weakness.

  • Based on work with school districts across the country, the Well at Work team has developed tools to enable you to make the best use of Guarding Minds in a K-12 educational context.

    The Well at Work's Guarding Minds Summary transforms your districts' 500+ pages of Guarding Minds data into a concise, personalized report. The report includes easily understandable visual representations, graphs, and a summary table with highlighted areas of importance. Based on our proprietary analysis tool and our review and analysis of aggregated data, the report streamlines the data analysis process, drawing attention to critical findings, areas for further exploration, and priority areas.

  • As part of the Cohort, you will participate in six 1.5-hour webinars. The webinars are as follows:

    • October 11, 2023, 12:30 pm EST Orientation to Guarding Minds: Overview of the Guarding Minds tool, review of 2023 updates, discussion of timing, identifying essential employee groups, and pros/cons of different segmentation.

    • November 8, 2023, 12:30 pm EST Foundations for long-term success: Sharing motivation, expectations, and best practices for survey implementation to support action.

    • January 24, 2024, 12:30 pm EST Reading your summary report: Review how to read the summary report generated by Well at Work; what to look for, key graphs and trends, etc.

  • Your district will be matched with an advisor who offers coaching and accountability throughout the data collection, analysis, and action process. Your coaching sessions will include the following:

    • Discussion on the most effective survey setup for your context, including which employee groups will receive segmented reports;

    • A detailed review of your district's summary report, focusing on areas of strength and areas for action;

    • Discussion on next steps, including strategies for sharing the findings within your district and priority areas for action.

  • As a participant in the Cohort, your data is your data. Only you and the Well at Work team will see your Guarding Minds data. You will not be expected to share your data with other participants.
