Psychological Health and Safety in Canadian K-12 Education

I found it relevant, engaging, I learnt new things and it was practical. I walked away with something I could use immediately with my staff.
I enjoyed the practical nature of the discussions. They were topical and relevant to our situations. The sharing that was done was also great to see as I was able to see that others were experiencing the same things that we were.
[This workshop] broke the components of organizational wellbeing down into relevant parts...provided a very good explanation of what constitutes health/a mentally healthy work environment.

Psychological health and safety is a foundation for an inclusive and diverse workplace that protects and promotes the wellbeing of all employees. In this workshop, we will explore Canada’s National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace in the context of Canadian K-12 education.

During this workshop, we will:

  • Define psychological health and safety: what it is and what it is NOT;

  • Understand psychological health and safety as a responsibility shared between employers, employees, and the unions that support them;

  • Explore the Standard's 13 factors that contribute to the psychological health and safety of employees in the context of Canadian K-12 education;

  • Identify ways in which you can contribute to psychological health and safety as an employee or leader of a school, union or organization.
